Situated within the heart of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is where you'll find the endearing thatched cottage - Chapel Cottage - conveniently located at the heart of the thriving Pewsey village. Chapel Cottage is a great base whether you are wanting to stay local, looking to explore the countryside, seeking more active adventure or to attend one of the many exciting local festivals and events. Pewsey has excellent transport links, facilities and infrastructure to get out and about.
This holiday cottage for rental is a real home-away-from-home and has retained a wealth of its original features including exposed beams and a thatched roof to quietly reflect the 250 year old building’s charming history and character.
Downstairs the cottage comprises of a living room, kitchen/open dining area, utility space and family bathroom. Upstairs are the three bedrooms. The main bedroom including a king-size sleigh bed, the second a double, and the third being a single bedroom, with an additional truckle bed underneath that can be pulled out if required.
The cottage may be old in character, but it boasts a wide range of modern amenities and appliances including wi-fi, Smart TV for your favourite apps and subscriptions to Netflix and Disney+ are complementary. Covering all the necessities is an amply equipped kitchen, where you will find all the essentials for a short or long break, including a washing machine, electric oven and hob, dishwasher and microwave.
Although COVID-19 guidelines have reduced the number of little finishing touches and extras we can include, feedback from our recent guests reflects the attention to detail taken in our aim to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Throughout the pandemic we have been welcoming guests within the UK Government Guidelines.
Our professional housekeeping team are fully versed in industry standard cleaning protocols and we have taken steps to minimise contact to keep everyone safe.
In addition, we have reviewed our booking and cancellation policies to give you the flexibility and peace of mind needed.
The thatched cottage has two floors. Upstairs - Three bedrooms; 1 x king-size sleigh bedroom, 1 x double bedroom, 1 x single bedroom with additional truckle bed. Ground-floor - Large kitchen/diner, sitting room, Bathroom with shower and bath, basin and WC,
A leisurely stroll from the thatched cottage will bring you into the heart of the village and a selection of places to eat, drink and shop.
Whilst the pubs, restaurants and cafes provide a cosy eating-out experience, the two grocery stores, take-aways and bakery ensure you'll have everything you need for your stay. In addition the village boasts a range of specialist and craft shops with regular markets for picking up any holiday treats.
For those interested in health and wellbeing, the village itself boosts a number of leisure services. Swimming pool, classes, fitness facilities - even it's very own Yoga centre. For little ones there are a number of playgrounds around the village to burn off some energy.
You'll discover miles of local walking and cycling routes within the village and further afield. Close to home, Scotchel's nature reserve offers a short accessible trail through nature. A little further on will bring you to the Kennet and Avon Canal walk.
For a taste of history and points of interest, you can visit Pewsey Heritage Centre within the village, whilst the surrounding area boasts many archaeology points of interest including Avebury Stone Circle and Stonehenge, and many of the famous White Horses of Wiltshire. There is something ancient and magical about Pewsey and the area is a hotspot for crop circle enthusiasts.
The Kennet and Avon Canal is the lifeblood of the area; it links attractions such as Wilton Windmill and Crofton Beam Engines, the village of Pewsey with its wharf, and the White Horse carvings in Pewsey and Alton Barnes. Paragliding, walking, riding, canoeing and barge trips can be found along the way.

Pewsey's annual Carnival dates back to 1898 and is the most anticipated moment of the annual calendar.
The events build up over the summer and peaks in the fortnight before the Carnival Procession which takes place on the 3rd week of September.
